A Father's Day that isn't just another lunch out
This Father's Day, skip the crowded restaurant and give Dad something better: a relaxed day in the trees with the people he loves most.
Bring the blokes you love to Eastwoodhill for good food, fresh air, and a proper wander through the National Arboretum. The Friends of Eastwoodhill will be firing up the BBQ with gourmet burgers, so every bite helps support the Arboretum too.
You bring your crew and a sense of adventure. We'll handle the rest.

Kids' Nature Bingo
Pick up a free Bingo card at the Visitor Centre and let it lead the family on a playful wander. Nine squares to find and complete out in the park, from "take a selfie by this Arboretum feature" to spotting the giants.
Finish all nine and the kids head back for a well-earned chocolate treat.

How the day works
Start with a warm welcome at the Visitor Centre, then take your time soaking up the Arboretum. Wander the trails, let the kids loose on the playground, and settle into a relaxed Father's Day under the trees.
- Arrive any time from 9am. Report to the Visitor Centre first, as everyone does.
- Redeem your burger between 11:30am and 2pm in the courtyard. Turn up whenever suits inside that window and we'll take care of the rest.
- The café is not open this day. Extra food and drinks are available in the Visitor Centre, or pack a picnic and find a spot under the canopy.
- Pick up your free Nature Bingo card at the Visitor Centre on your way in.
We're at 2392 Wharekopae Road, Ngatapa, about a 30 minute drive from Gisborne. Free parking on site. The closest food store is back in town, so load up before you head out.

Is the café open?
No, the café is closed for this event. You can buy extra food and drinks in the Visitor Centre, or bring a picnic.
Can I get a vegetarian burger?

What time should we come?
Arrive any time from 9am. Burgers are served between 11:30am and 2pm, so come hungry inside that window.
Do I have to be a member?
No. Non-member tickets include park admission for the day. Members just pay a lower price.
Is there anything for the kids?
Plenty. Free Nature Bingo, the playground, 25 km of trails, and a chocolate treat for kids who finish the Bingo card.
What if it rains?
The event runs rain or shine. Bring a jacket and sturdy shoes.
Can I get a refund or swap my ticket?
Get in touch with the Visitor Centre team before the day and we'll do our best to sort you out.
Can we bring the dog?
Yes. Father’s Day falls on one of our Paws in the Park weekends. On the first weekend of the month, dog-owners can bring their well-mannered, leashed dog to Eastwoodhill. With the high volume of visitors on Father’s Day, please ensure that you respect all visitors, doggy and human, pick up after your dog, and always keep your dog on lead.
